Matthew Allen, Chair
Matthew graduated in Economics with a minor in Chemistry from Utah State University in 2004, where he then went to work for Idaho National Labs. While there, he had the opportunity to work on a variety of large projects, helping develop management and organizational skills. In 2012 he joined BYU with the Chemistry/Biochemistry Department and was hired on to manage Chem Stores. Over the last few years Matthew earned his Masters in Public Administration, and greatly expanded his role within the Chemistry/Biochemistry Department. He took over the management of the Inorganic teaching labs, safety for the department, and instructing safety courses for undergraduate and graduate students. In the last three years, Matthew and his team, also took over chemical handling and chemical inventory for all academic chemicals. These efforts have made BYU one of the first, if not the first, University to implement RFID technology for chemical tracking and inventory.
