Definition of Tracking/Auditing Inventory & Technology Needs
Tracking/Auditing Inventory & Technology Needs comprises all university, state, federal and church policies and regulations that govern the work done in the Warehouse Inventory Management Community. It informs our tasks and conversations with customers and suppliers. Not all regulations will apply to the responsibilities of all community members, but every member should be knowledgeable of the regulations applicable to their assigned responsibilities.
These policies and regulations are meant to guard against risk to the University and its people. They also guide ethical decision-making and communication during the planning, transaction, and follow-up phases of projects, contracts, and transactions. The community members have a responsibility to guide and enforce compliance as far as possible during day-to-day interactions.
Specialist: Ability to recognize and scan a barcode. Trained on how to follow inventory count procedures. Knowledge of how to do a second count / audit for inventory count verification. Understanding of proper inventory movement and flow of goods within the company. Knowledge of how to find inventory in a warehouse / stockroom. Entry level technical skills (how to use handheld scanners, computers, etc.)
Sr. Specialist: Knowledge of how to use excel and inventory management software specific to the warehouse/stockroom. Ability to use warehouse software to look up inventory on hand, location of inventory, verify digital vs. physical inventory, etc. Knowledge of different barcode types (i.e. SKU, UPC, ISBN, etc.) Knowledge of inventory management count types (i.e. bin counts, cycle counts, inventory counts, etc.). Understands how to research inventory problems and report problems to the Professional. Understanding of proper inventory movement and flow of goods within the business. Ability to read a financial statement and budget. Understands and reports specific inventory related KPIs to Specialists. Intermediate technical skills such as how to setup software, use inventory management software, troubleshoot & configure basic software & hardware problem
Professional: Strong understanding of how to use excel functions. Understands databases used to house inventory. Ability to create and run inventory reports using inventory management software (i.e. data mining). Trains Specialists and Senior Specialists on how to perform counts (i.e. bin counts, cycle counts, inventory counts, etc.). Helps the Senior Professional define the audit process and trains Senior Specialist on auditing processes (i.e. proper record keeping). Helps define and train Senior Specialists on proper inventory movement and flow of goods within the business. Ability to fix inventory discrepancies through counts, inventory adjustments, inventory worksheets, etc. Understands financial impacts of inventory corrections (i.e. COGS, Inventory value, GL impact, etc.). Creates KPI's used to track inventory accuracy, inventory forecasting needs, etc. Additional technical skills such as troubleshooting network problems, managing users, security settings, etc.
Sr. Professional: Defines and directs all inventory management processes and procedures. Directs the Professional in the creation of KPI's used to track inventory accuracy, inventory forecasting needs, etc. Ensures all inventory counts and audits are scheduled, accurate and complete. Determines, corrects, and reports inventory discrepancies and statistical data (i.e. related to theft, shrinkage, improper product movement, etc.). Ensures compliance with established internal inventory control procedures & ensures proper training of Professionals on audit processes. Leads out in creating, defining, and managing inventory related SOPs to create operational efficiencies, accuaracy, and quality output/throughput. Directs Professionals and Senior Specialists in their responsibilities. Works with IT Professionals and Business Analysts to determine, select, and/or create new innovative software solutions to manage the inventory of the business

How to Demonstrate Regulatory, Policy & Compliance
In working with and reporting back to the CDC, it is strongly recommended that specific documentation and progress examples be provided by sharing final work products, presentations, assessment results, etc. giving a clear, tangible illustration of academic and practical rigor demonstrating what was accomplished and learned during the regulatory, policy & compliance journey/experience. The following are examples of what can be shared to demonstrate the development efforts made and learning results achieved.
Do: Describe what you did in completing / achieving your development plan.
· Describe your mutually agreed upon assignment or other chosen but related activity and why you chose it.
· Share other activities or opportunities that surfaced while engaged in your chosen approach and how they captured your attention in support of your chosen direction.
· Share experiential discoveries using “before and after” comparisons describing what you learned and how it has changed your approach to life and business.
Assess: Share, if applicable, any assessments that were taken / provided related to your journey
· Describe formal assessments you chose and participated in along with their results. Why did you choose them? What were the take-a-ways? How did they affect change in your behaviors and/or approach?
· If no formal assessment is available, be prepared to explain your own assessment of your journey in this area and any results coming from your efforts.
· Report feedback from others you interact with that authenticates claimed positive change or progress.
Learn: Explain what you felt that you were able to learn during your journey / experiences.
· Discuss your developmental learning experience. Specifically include new knowledge acquired, changes in outlook resulting from the learning, and any ah-ha experiences that have permanently altered your approach going forward.
· Articulate learned principles, practice, and new awareness incorporated as a result of new learning.
Apply: Give specific examples where you have, or plan to make direct changes to your work.
· Explain revelatory experiences you encountered or other practical knowledge you have incorporated into your work that has changed your approach to your current responsibilities or that you expect to help you as you move forward.
· Share how any new approaches to your work impact specific work and relationship outcomes.
Reflect: Review / consider things you would have done differently had you learned these things earlier.
· Think back on your approach to work before your recent learning and progress in your current selected journey. Identify any weaknesses that held you back from progressing.
