Own It! -Definition


"Own It!" is a focus on owning your products and projects by understanding your role to its fullest. You are the connection between the internal team and the client. Expectation Management requires high level of confidence and involves many techniques through scope definition and submitting proposals through a product life cycle to state the problem to be solved, audiences, recommendations, risks if the problem is not solved, strategic alignment & governance, supporting information, and similar solutions.

Assistant: Works well with functional and product teams. Understands the concept of synergy and applies its principles. Is willing to learn from peers. Gives and takes suggestions. Receives direction and assistance openly. Colleagues appreciate the effort demonstrated. Is able to build relationships with senior colleagues.

Is learning and applying basic problem-solving skills to specific job-related challenges. Is learning agile concepts and how to apply them. Identifies issues, acknowledges problems, looks for causes, researches options, and resolves when possible. Escalates where appropriate.

Associate: Encourages and participates in cross-functional and product-team discussions. Promotes synergistic teamwork. Looks for opportunities for collaboration. Is open to suggestion and input. Demonstrates tact in sensitive situations. Is able to build relationships with senior colleagues. Relates well with and mentor's student employees.

Consistently demonstrates problem-solving skills in work. Can independently identify problems, research, analyze, resolve, and verify solutions. Has appropriate logic and technical skills for the level of technical problems. Determines metrics, analyzes statistics, and applies good analytical/critical thinking. Contributes ideas that can further improve business processes.

Ability to resolve roadblocks for product management. Uses time management during meetings. Builds the momentum of team by seeking answers to questions, incident management, and enhancement requests. Seeks to develop new skills that will allow them to grow in the field. Is consistently learning from leaders. Approaches work with maximum effort. Works generally without direction in their key technology area. Receives some supervision in non-key areas or higher-level implementation.

Senior Associate/Professional: Demonstrated ability to promote synergistic teamwork, brainstorming, and creative problem solving. Looks for opportunities for collaboration and mentors' others to do so. Demonstrates tact and skill in handling delicate situations. Performs necessary tasks in unity with individuals of different backgrounds who possess different character traits. Receives management's counsel well.

Possesses well-developed skills for resolving technology problems as well as business and customer relations. Can address foreseen and unforeseen obstacles successfully. Applies proven analytical skills. Is capable of making decisions that impact the scope of a project in a timely manner, and takes responsibility. Researches and learns new techniques.

Is driven to set and reach aggressive but realistic team and project goals. Seeks to deliver above-standard work. Seeks and learns new methods to grow themselves and others. Is capable of working without direct supervision in multiple key technology areas. Mentors and instructs others. Mentors Product Admins and other Product Managers how to most effectively manage the work of the Scrum team using the Product Backlog, Sprint Planning Meeting and the Sprint Review Meeting. Arranges daily stand-up meetings, facilitate meetings, schedule meetings, demo and decision-making processes in order to ensure quick inspection and proper use of adaptation process.

Senior Professional: Encourages collaborative discussions at many levels and exemplifies the ability to promote synergistic teamwork. Teaches and mentors others to find opportunities for collaboration. Demonstrates tact and skill in negotiations. Is well-respected in the industry. Relates well with employees and high-level leadership and is seen by both as approachable. Is respected by colleagues and management. Addresses and solves problematic employee performance issues. Seeks to understand the needs of employees as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Helps others feel valued and needed.

Builds excitement in colleagues and those whom they coach and supervise. Stays motivated to accomplish organizational goals/vision. Works autonomously; provides direction to others. Responsible for Scrum being used effectively throughout the enterprise.

Principal: Has developed the business acumen for foreseeing and resolving complex business and technology problems. Is trusted by others to foresee challenges and strategize for long-term resolution. Makes important product and business decisions utilizing appropriate data, collaboration, strategy, ethics, and risk management. Is called on to contribute innovative ideas and solutions based on research and ability to stay current on newest technological practices.
