Driving to results is a focus on getting things done and being accountable while pushing through obstacles to accomplish tasks, setting project/product priorities, expectations, and work logs. This requires the juggling of expectations, communicating priorities, while serving external and internal customers, engineers, and management. Consistency, quality assurance, overseeing timelines, road maps, budgeting and cost projections are all outcomes that are expected as we strive for excellence. Using the appropriate product or project management methodologies (agile, waterfall, etc.) and tools to achieve the desired results. The ability to produce a refined work product in a timely manner.

Assistant: Learns and applies new ideas, applications, technologies, and business models. Learns new skills quickly, demonstrates skills and understanding. Strives to be productive, go the extra mile, and be autonomous. While learning job duties, seeks to find more effective ways of performing operations. Capable of carrying out multiple assignments received from supervisor and colleagues. Learns through mentor-ship to develop planning and management skills.

Associate: Approaches work with maximum effort. Delivers high quantity of quality products in timely manner. Manages resources and people for optimum results. Recognizes importance of life-long learning. Effectively manages the specific assignments received from supervisors.Is able to lead student employees and co-workers in similar job requirements. With the help of colleagues, is able to make time-sensitive plans that help teams meet specific objectives.

Senior Associate: Is driven to reach team and project goals. Seeks to deliver above-standard work product before deadlines. Directs teams to increase efficiency and quality. Meets or exceeds customer expectations. Finds more effective ways of completing tasks within required guidelines. Creates work methods that can be implemented for future use in similar jobs.

Frequently receives assignments that place them in a leadership role within the team. Assists team members in accomplishing project goals. Coordinates well with management. Is able to plan, organize, direct, and control university resources to accomplish an objective.

Learns and applies new ideas, applications, technologies, and business models. Learns new skills quickly, demonstrates skill and understanding. Learns from relationships built and uses information to communicate well with others (customers and management) during problems. Ability to escalate productivity and HR concerns to line management.

Professional: Shows consistency in productivity and quality of personal and team results. Learns and applies good management practices to provide high quality OIT deliverables and services. Directs according to University guiding principles. Inspires team. Uses unique, creative, and effective team building to get the most out of employees. Proposes new operations that better meet client needs.

Guides departmental efforts in accomplishing organizational goals. Manages project teams to meet the needs of clientele. Has a working understanding of responsibilities specific to each team.

Approaches work with maximum effort. Encourages and participates in cross-functional and product-team discussions. Promotes synergistic teamwork. Looks for opportunities for collaboration. Is open to suggestion and input. Demonstrates tact in sensitive situations. Is able to build relationships with senior colleagues. Relates well with and mentors students and coworkers.

Senior Professional and Principal: Develops the ability to direct multiple project managers and projects. Manages others to deliver above-standard work product before deadlines. Directs, supervises, and manages teams to increase efficiency and quality. Leads discussion among team members regarding latest technological advances and strategies. Regularly requests, directs and controls university resources to accomplish organizational objectives.

Is a seasoned professional and has the ability to engage all departments in OIT and BYU. Direct others based on the priorities identified in order for work to be completed well. Applies good management practices to provide high quality deliverables and services. Proposes new operations that better meet client needs.

Driving to Results –How to Demonstrate


DO: Describe what you did in completing / achieving your development plan
Describe the agreed-upon assignment or activity and if anything differed from what was planned;

  • Learn about quality assurance, road mapping, forecasting, learning expectations of internal and external customers as well as team members. Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Survey to see the areas for improvement and determining realistic expectations
  • Develop better product and project management skills by taking courses, attending workshops and applying this in the work environment

ASSESS: Share, if applicable, any assessments that were taken / provided related to your activities
